I am pleased to congratulate Manuel Castañeda, an Oregon entrepreneur, as the newest Cascade Policy Institute board member. Manuel started his own business, now called PLI Systems, when he emigrated to Oregon from his native Mexico in 1986. PLI Systems is now a full-service landscape, design, building, and maintenance company, specializing in innovative solutions for soil stabilization and foundation problems.
This year, Cascade Policy Institute celebrates its 25th anniversary. Formed in 1991, Cascade is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research and educational organization focusing on state and local issues in Oregon. Cascade’s mission is to develop and promote public policy alternatives that foster individual liberty, personal responsibility, and economic opportunity.
I joined the Cascade Board of Directors in 2011 and have enjoyed my work promoting liberty and opportunity in Oregon. Manuel joins me and these other board members: Chairman William B. Conerly, Michael L. Barton, Pamela Morris, Larry W. Dennis, Jon Egge, William Udy, and John A. Charles. We all look forward to working with Manuel at Cascade Policy Institute.
