Jeffrey McAllister, 39, pleaded guilty to seven counts of felony sex abuse, one count of unlawful sexual penetration, one count of attempted sex abuse and one count of patronizing a prostitute. McAllister was indicted last year after a female patient contacted authorities and complained about his behavior in the emergency room of Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in Portland.
Reuters is reporting that McAllister is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in prison under terms of a deal with prosecutors.
Patients in hospitals, especially emergency departments, need to know they are safe from sexual attack or exploitation. When people are the most vulnerable is when they need to trust care providers not to abuse them.
