Oregon Clyde Brock Boy Scout Abuse Lawsuit Filed 5/28/14

Oregon Clyde Brock Boy Scout Abuse Lawsuit FiledWe filed a new sex abuse lawsuit today against the Boy Scouts of America and the local Boy Scout Council (Multnomah Co. Circuit Court Case No. 14CV05531).

The perpetrator of the abuse was Clyde Brock, formerly of Oregon City, who was one of the creepiest perps in Oregon. His 1968 Boy Scout “Ineligible Volunteer file” is outrageous. It’s the one where the Boy Scouts said, pretty much, “You know, we told you twice to stop taking nude pictures of Scouts, but now you are being accused of sexually molesting 12 boys in your troop. So if you resign quietly, we will cover it up and not tell the parents of the boys (or the cops). Oh, and you can still be honored at the 50th anniversary dinner.”

This is the first civil lawsuit concerning abuse by Brock. He died in 2001.

Additionally, we’ve learned more about Brock since his IV File was released in 2012 as one of the 1,200+ Boy Scout files the Oregon Supreme Court ordered made public (I was one of the plaintiff’s trial attorneys in that case against the Boy Scouts that got the $20 million verdict.)

Our private investigator dug up Brock’s criminal file from 1971 and interviewed at least one of the cops, victims, and a mother. So we now know that at least some of the abuse he was criminally prosecuted for occurred on camping trips because he told the parents that he was still in Scouting so they trusted him to take their boys camping.
