Gregory Aker, an assistant scoutmaster for the Clark Knights of Columbus Troop 310 and a district chairman for the Boy Scouts, has been criminally charged with sexually assaulting two boys and possession of 1,240 images and 43 videos of child pornography.
In addition to serving with the Boy Scouts, Aker taught religion classes at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Linden, New Jersey.
According to news stories, the images and videos were found in a search of Aker’s home after his initial arrest for sexual assault in February 2014.
The Boy Scouts of America said they dismissed Aker as soon as the organization learned of the criminal charges. At this time, it is unknown if there are more Aker victims or if he sexually abused anyone while teaching at the local Catholic Church.
