Mike Kelsey Still Serving in NY State Legislature in Spite of Criminal Sex Abuse Charges

5491161a05ed6.imageNew York State legislator Mike Kelsey remains at work in the state legislature in spite of his December arrest on felony first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He’s due back in the Town of Pierrepont court in St. Lawrence County on February 9th.

In the meantime, he continues to serve in the state legislature but has been removed from the legislative Family and Human Services Committee following the announcement of the arrest.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, “There is no mechanism to remove a legislator from office, and Kelsey has not resigned, despite Legislature Chairman Rob Rolison, County Executive Marc Molinaro and Legislature Majority Leader Angela Flesland calling for him to step down while he’s facing charges.”
