Gerrett Conover had volunteered with the Boy Scouts for a decade between 1990 and 2000. Last week, Conover was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for distributing images of child sexual abuse over the Internet, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said on Thursday.
A law enforcement search also uncovered materials allegedly establishing Conover’s involvement in the Boy Scouts between 1990 and 2000.
Conover admitted to law enforcement authorities that he knowingly distributed child pornography.
He was found in possession of a laptop containing images of sexually exploited children after he was intercepted at the United States border on his way from Canada into New York on Sept. 16, 2012.
